Team Players: Triumph and Tribulation on the Campaign Trail:
Presidential campaigns that celebrate our freedom to choose a leader by election of the people are events unique to our country. It is an expectant, exciting time – a promise kept by the Constitution for a better future. Rituals developed over time and became traditions of presidential hopefuls – the campaign slogans and songs, hundreds of speeches, thousands of handshakes, the countless miles of travel across the country to meet voters - all reported by the ever-present media. The candidate must do a balancing act as leader and entertainer to influence the American voters. Today the potential first spouse is expected to be involved in campaign issues, and her activities are as closely scrutinized as the candidate’s. However, these women haven’t always been an official part of the ritual contest.
Tours: Tuesday - Saturday at 9:30 & 10:30 a.m. and 12:30, 1:30 & 2:30 p.m.; plus Sundays at 12:30, 1:30 & 2:30 p.m. in June, July & August.

Cyndee Frailly, National First Ladies’ Library
Education Director is invited to White House!!!
Ms. Frailly portrays Dolley Madison for US Mint coin unveiling
Director of the United States Mint Ed Moy joined Mrs. Laura Bush in the White House East Room on Monday, November 19 at 9:30 a.m. EST for a ceremony celebrating the First Spouse Gold Coin Program. Joining them was our own Cyndee Frailly!
The White House event marked the debut of the Dolley Madison First Spouse Gold Coin, the fourth coin in the series for 2007. Ms. Frailly was invited by the Mint to do her well-known portrayal of Dolley Madison. She was well received by the crowd when, dressed as Dolley Madison, she wove her stories of Dolley and her time at the White House. Founder Mary Regula, executive director Pat Krider and board member Joyce Murtha also attended the event.
The United States honored our Nation's First Spouses by issuing collectible one-half ounce pure gold coins featuring their images, in the order that they served. The First Spouse Gold Coins have a denomination of $10, but their 24-karat gold content is worth considerably more than that.
